The driving force of the Yaffe Group is to investigate risk and resilience factors for cognitive aging and dementia to identify opportunities for prevention. Based on the fascinating premise that 30% of dementia risk may be modifiable, we focus on epidemiological studies across the life course and novel interventions.
In parallel, an essential priority is to support the next generation of leaders in aging research through robust, interdisciplinary mentorship and training. By emphasizing innovative approaches and bridging disciplines, our studies continue to result in numerous high-impact publications and increase our global understanding of dementia prevention.
Our current portfolio ranges from studying risk factors—such as cardiovascular health, sleep quality, and traumatic brain injury—to disentangling the complex relationship between modifiable risk factors and social determinants of health. See Research Areas and Current Studies to learn more.
